Welcome to Club DEB!

Published by jbog on Tagged Welcome

In the 1940s families sat together listening to radio broadcasts. Now we grab our PC or iPod and listen to downloadable podcasts. Club DEB has its own informational podcasts, which I like to call Clubcasts. On each show I interview an expert on a topic in order to inform, encourage or inspire you. In addition to the informative Clubcasts, Club DEB also sponsors a Weekly Radio Show. Every Friday a panel and I discuss real topics for real women. We cover a variety of topics and discuss them from a Christian perspective no matter how “uncomfortable” a topic may be. We hope you will join us by listening in. Click here for a schedule of upcoming shows. See you Friday!

The Love Month

Published by jbog on Tagged A Mixture of Stuff, Blogs, Events, Radio Show

Coming Soon: The NEW Club DEB Radio Show! We invite you to listen in as the Club DEB panel and I discuss real topics for real women!

February is often considered the “Love” month, and it is no different here at Club DEB. So we adopted Love as the theme for this month, beginning with a “Recipe for Romance” on February 12th. How do you define romance? Does romance necessarily mean sex? How can one prepare for romance? Join us to hear what our panel has to say about these questions and more.

We also have some interesting topics for the last two weeks of February. On February 19th we will be discussing “Lust vs. Love.” That should be an interesting show for sure! Then we round the month out with the most important Love topic of all…”Loving Your Neighbor: How to live a life of love.”

Every show will begin with our 10-minute “Weekly Rap Session.” And you just never know what topic the panel will engage in then! So join us for the fun by listening in and then post a comment to share your thoughts.

And don’t forget to subscribe for email notifications. We will alert you by email when a new show is uploaded so that you can stay up-to-date with all the happenings here at Club DEB. See you Friday!

Note: If you have a personal romance story you would like to share with us, post it in the comments section or email me and we will read it on the show.

New Show Update

Published by jbog on Tagged A Mixture of Stuff, Blogs, Events, Radio Show

Last week I announced a new Radio Show starting on Club DEB. Today I have good news and bad news regarding the launch of that show. The bad news is that the show’s start has been delayed one week. The good news is the reason for the delay…We have a new panel member who will be joining us! I will add her to the show’s bio page just as soon as I have her information and then introduce her to you all. But please tune in next Friday, February 12th, to hear our first show, and the topic is perfect for Valentine’s Day! Talk to you then!

ANNOUNCEMENT: A New Show Coming!

Published by jbog on Tagged Events, Radio Show

I am excited to announce the launch of a NEW weekly Club DEB Radio Show! Every Friday a Club DEB panel and I will discuss real topics for real women. Each week we will cover a variety of topics and discuss them from a Christian perspective. When necessary, we will have an expert in that topic join us on the show, and we will discuss that topic with him/her as well.

We want to cover a wide range of topics and not be afraid of controversy or debate, so we will not shy away from a topic that may be “uncomfortable.” Some of the topics we will be discussing are: Pornography addiction; Obesity and emotional eating; Bankruptcy and home foreclosures; Gastric bypass surgery; and infertility. We also plan on doing some more light-hearted topics such as a show about (my favorite) the Amazon Kindle.

Joining me on the panel are two wonderful ladies, Tammie Swaney and Carol Thompson, who bring a unique perspective to any discussion. You can read more about our Club DEB panel here.

We will begin each show with a “Weekly Rap Session.” In that 10-minute segment Tammie, Carol and I will discuss any current events that occurred that week, either in our personal life or in the world, before moving on to our main topic.

Shows will be recorded Friday mornings and uploaded to the site every Friday afternoon. Our first show is entitled “Beauty from Blunders: Releasing oneself from a life-changing mistake.” That will air Friday, February 5, 2010. We invite you to listen in and post any comments you may have.

To avoid missing a show, you can stay up-to-date by subscribing for email notification. You will then be alerted by email when a new show is uploaded to the site.

Please note: You will be sent a confirmation email after subscribing. You must click on the link in that email to activate your subscription. Otherwise, you will NOT receive email updates. So please check your email after submitting your request. Thanks…and I will see you Friday!

With Gratitude!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I haven’t been able to devote the time I need to Club DEB yet but I am getting there. This week I am starting to finally feel more like myself. I took a small step back as I picked up some kind of bug but seem to be doing better now.

I would like to take the opportunity in this post to thank everyone who supported and helped Gary and me through this last month. It was a difficult month as some things came up on top of the surgery, which in itself was difficult.

Gary commented how grateful he is to have so many people in our life who care, and my daughter observed how blessed we are with family and friends. I think the best gift one gives when helping someone during a trying time is the gift of knowing that you are not alone, and I want to thank all of you for giving us that.

So I would like to take this moment to thank each and every one of you for your thoughtfulness during this trying time. Thank you for being there for us, and I hope that we can some day do the same for you. God bless each one of you and I wish you a wonderful 2010.

Happy New Year everyone!

I am back!

Surgery was done and I am home recovering. Unfortunately, the surgery was more involved than anyone anticipated so my return to Club DEB took longer than planned. I was in the hospital for five days, and after getting home it took a few more days before I could really sit at the computer. But I am here now and will gradually be adding more posts.

Things will be slow for a little bit, however, because full recovery will take time and the holidays throw some delays into things too as it is hard to schedule interviews this time of year. But I have some ideas and actually made a few phone calls this morning so that I could get the ball rolling.

Thank you to all of you for your continued prayers and support during this time. My doctors, husband and I are all hoping that this surgery will solve the problems that I have had most of 2009. So we are praying for an answer to that and complete and total recovery as well. Thanks again!

Here we go again!

After 7 months of unexplained health problems, I had a follow-up CT scan done so that the doctors could have a sense of where I stand now.  I got a copy of the report and I thought it was great news.  The problem that had shown on previous scans looked to be resolved and I thought I was on the way to healing.  My doctors, however, did not agree.

Three doctors on the case…my primary care, my GI, and my surgeon, all agreed that they would like me to have my appendix removed.  Yep, my appendix.  A small organ with absolutely no purpose as far as anyone can tell.  The doctors wonder if it is the appendix that has been causing all the havoc in my body the last few months.  No one knows for sure but since it (the appendix) does not look right, according to recent CT scans anyway, they would like to take it out.  So, although I thought I was done with doctors, medical tests, and hospitals, it turns out I have one more hurdle to jump.

So next Monday, December 7, I will be going to the hospital to have this little nuance removed.  Hopefully they can do it by lap.  Farewell my little appendix friend! I wish it wasn’t so but it is, and this means that Club DEB will be on hold for a bit while I recover.  Even though working on the site will be on a sabbatical, my mind never stops.  I have new plans for Club DEB and I will be announcing them soon.

So until we meet again, may I ask you to please keep my surgery and recovery in your prayers.  I appreciate the support.  Talk to you soon!

Do you know the most important question to ask a mom who is pregnant with multiples? Click the play button below to hear Mary Slaman-Forsythe, Founder and President of The Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome Foundation, answer that question and more. Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome affects many precious babies each year. My family was touched personally by TTTS in a very heartbreaking way when my niece, Elizabeth, lost one of her boys at birth due to this devastating disease. This is a “must hear” interview for anyone pregnant with twins or triplets. December is TTTS Awareness Month. Let’s help the TTTS Foundation save the lives of babies by increasing awareness of this powerful disease.
