Welcome to Club DEB!

Published by jbog on Tagged Welcome

In the 1940s families sat together listening to radio broadcasts. Now we grab our PC or iPod and listen to downloadable podcasts. Club DEB has its own informational podcasts, which I like to call Clubcasts. On each show I interview an expert on a topic in order to inform, encourage or inspire you. In addition to the informative Clubcasts, Club DEB also sponsors a Weekly Radio Show. Every Friday a panel and I discuss real topics for real women. We cover a variety of topics and discuss them from a Christian perspective no matter how “uncomfortable” a topic may be. We hope you will join us by listening in. Click here for a schedule of upcoming shows. See you Friday!

New Project to Share

Published by jbog on Tagged Blogs

Summer is over and things have not settled down yet for any of us. Unfortunately, this means our sabbatical is longer than we intended and right now it is marked “indefinite.” I have become involved in a project which is probably one the most worthwhile I have ever done.

You all know Diane Ulrick, the ‘D’ in Club DEB, and through her you know her son Colin. Diane and I, along with her cousin (my nephew) Bill, are hosting a fundraiser for Colin called “Colin’s Backyard Olympics.” We hope it will be a blast and that certainly is our goal but it also takes a lot of work and time. That, along with my day MT business, makes it impossible at this time for me to do the radio show. Carol and Tammie are experiencing similar problems so we decided to extend our sabbatical for now.

We look forward to the day that we can be together again and hope that you will stay tuned and join us then. In the meantime, please visit my blog for Colin’s Backyard Olympics. That blog will keep you posted on how the planning is going along with all its ups and downs. We wish you all the very best and hope that we won’t be away for too long. I won’t say good bye but rather…so long for now. :)

It’s Summer!

Published by jbog on Tagged Blogs

It’s July 26 and summer is going by so quickly! So much to do and so little summer weather. :)   Carol, Tammie and I are taking a sabbatical from the Radio Show until September.  It became increasingly difficult to coordinate our schedules so we decided to stop for the summer.  We will be returning again September 10 and have some good topics lined up. We hope you all have a wonderful and safe summer! See you in the fall!

The “Balcony People” Beatitudes

Published by jbog on Tagged Blogs

I was hungry and you formed a humanities club to discuss my hunger. Thank you

I was imprisoned and you crept off quietly to your chapel to pray for my release. Nice.

I was naked and in your mind you debated the Morality of my appearance. What good did it do?

I was sick and you knelt and thanked God for your health. But I needed you.

I was homeless and you preached to me of the shelter of the love of God. I wish you’d taken me home.

I was lonely and you left me alone to pray for me. Why didn’t you stay?

You seem so holy, so close to God; But I’m still very hungry, lonely, cold, and still in pain.  Does it matter?

Happy Independence Day!

We are blessed with the opportunity to once again celebrate our nation’s birth and history and the freedoms it gives us. Thank you to all those who made the sacrifice so those freedoms can continue. Hope you all have a happy and safe holiday. Carol, Tammie and I will be back next Friday, July 9, to begin our radio shows once again. Have a good 4th!

Discrimination (Intolerance) vs. Mercy

Published by jbog on Tagged Radio Show

I admit…this was a tough show for us to do! How do we show compassion yet have standards in the church. As Carol said, it is a very tender topic and it was hard for us to touch. We did our best, though, and hope that it gives you some thought. As always, any feedback (negative or positive) is welcome.

The Proverbs 31 Woman

Published by jbog on Tagged Radio Show

Is the Proverbs 31 woman alive in 2010? Some say the Bible is outdated for the culture of today but the Club DEB panel and I feel differently. Click the play button below to hear Tammie, Carol and I discuss this Bible passage and how it very much applies to women today.

Regarding the Radio Show

Published by jbog on Tagged Radio Show

The Club DEB Radio Show will be back April 9! Some events have occurred that have interfered the past two weeks, and we also decided not to broadcast on Good Friday to honor that holy day. But we will be back April 9 and hope you will join us again then!
